About The Artist

Jessica Bell is a multidisciplinary artist based in Maryland, with a creative practice rooted in healing, representation, and the natural world. She holds an Associate of Arts in Fine Arts from Harford Community College and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Towson University. She is currently pursuing her Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Liberty University, with the goal of becoming a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC). Her long-term vision is to integrate art-making into clinical work, using creative expression as a tool for emotional and psychological healing.

In addition to her personal practice, Jessica also works as an art teacher, encouraging young artists to explore creativity as a tool for growth, expression, and self-discovery.

Jessica’s love for art began in childhood, but it was during her teenage years that she discovered its deeper power—as a form of personal therapy and joyful release. Her work is heavily inspired by the emotional resonance of color, the quiet wisdom of plants, and the expressive beauty of portraiture. Since 2020, her passion for botany has grown alongside her art practice, often appearing as a symbolic element in her compositions.

A central focus of Jessica’s portrait work is the celebration and visibility of Black identity. During her Fine Arts studies, she became acutely aware of the underrepresentation of darker skin tones in traditional art spaces. Today, she intentionally highlights Black features and skin in her paintings, contributing to a more inclusive and affirming visual narrative.

Through The Color of Jess, she explores the intersection of art, psychology, Black identity, faith, and nature—inviting viewers to find joy, meaning, and connection in color, texture, and form.
